VISITING WINEMAKERS Tenuta Del Guido, Sassicia – the Super Tuscan As a young man, the interest and passion of Mario Incisa della Rocchetta for wine and viticulture were inspired by the writings of his great grand-uncle Leopoldo Incisa, from Rocchetta Tanaro in Piemonte. As a student in Pisa, he was often a guest of the Salviati family in the nearby Migliarino estate. This is how he describes the beginning of his interest in Bordeaux grape variety Cabernet Sauvignon. His very own experiment with this grand grape began in 1944. Sassicaia was initially produced as a “family wine” and the first vintage to appear on the market was 1968. During a Decanter tasting in 1978 in London, the 1972 vintage was declared the best Cabernet Sauvignon among 33 wines from 11 countries. Since then, Sassicaia has been acclaimed by wine critics worldwide, and this success is recognized to have put Bolgheri on the wine map of the world. Within the new appellation “Bolgheri DOC” granted in 1994, Sassicaia was honored with a special “Sassicaia DOC”, being the only wine in Italy with its own appellation. Through an informal and wine tasting onboard, Pricilla Incisa, will share her family legacy, philosophy and wines from Tenuta Del Guido, as well as their estate in Sardinia. Dine with Pricilla, as she hosts a very special degustation dinner. SeaDream’s Executive Chef will create dishes that complement the excellence of the exclusive and rare vintages of Tenuta del Guido. SeaDream is offering a wine-by-the-glass package at an additional cost for the Winemaker’s Dinner. Castello delle Regine, unique Umbria. The region of Umbria, is generally known for producing bulk, lower quality wines, but there is always an exception. The exception is Castello delle Regine. This privately owned estate has its roots deep in the territory, and excellence is a keyword. Sample their exquisite portfolio of refreshing Italian white, and the charming, yet powerful red in a complimentary wine tasting, as the lady of the house, Livia, embarks SeaDream. To end a unique culinary voyage, SeaDream and Livia host a special winemaker’s dinner where rare vintages from Castello delle Regine will be matched with SeaDream’s Dream Cuisine, composed by our Executive Chef. SeaDream is offering a wine-by-the-glass package at an additional cost for the Winemaker’s Dinner. LAND ADVENTURES Truffle hunt in the Italian forests, Castello Delle Regine Castello delle Regine is not only famous for producing excellent wines but truffles too! Join SeaDream on an exclusive and unique experience in the Italian forests, guided by a local truffle hunter and his dogs. During our hunt, we will also search for wild herbs, and
other natural treasures. After the hike, a delicious meal with “the catch of the day”, will be paired with exquisite wines from Castello delle Regine. Varramista: a winery experience Tuscany is heralded as a producer of many of the best wines in the world. Enjoy a wonderful opportunity to sample and learn about some of the best local wines at the wonderful “Verramista Estate”. A scenic drive of approximately 45 minutes takes you through medieval hill-towns, beautiful valleys and landscapes that have changed little since ancient times. Varramista will welcome you with a striking driveway of oak trees. This wonderful wine and olive oil producing estate was donated to Gino di Neri Capponi (1350-1421) by the Republic of Florence as a reward for his victory at the command of the Florentine army against the city of Pisa in 1406. In 1953, ownership passed to Dr Enrico Piaggio, the famous producer of the “vespa” scooter. In the ‘90’s, it became the favorite and permanent residence of his grandson, Dr. Giovanni Alberto Agnelli, who began the project to create wine. The vineyard’s rebirth thus commenced: and resulted in the selection of Syrah as the main grape. To date it is the essential component of Varramista, the wine Dr. Agnelli created both for himself and his friends. You will visit the ground floor of the Villa with its antiques, magnificent Italian garden, and modern and ancient wine cellars before reaching the wine tasting room for a sampling of a variety of red wines, olive oil, and locally produced appetizers.
