My sister, Elki Jacobs moved to Israel over 30 years ago. Today, she is an interna- tional event designer flying to London to design Madonna’s party and 3-day wed- ding parties in Monte Carlo. Whenever she comes home for a family reunion or birthday, it’s wonderful but very hectic as she tries to spend quality time with our parents, relatives and friends in New York and Connecticut. Last summer, we decided to try something different. Instead of Elki coming to the United States for my parent’s 63rd wedding anniversary/sister’s birthday/ family reunion, we decided to spend the time together aboard S EA D REAM II in the Greek Islands. This was the most precious time we ever remember, for our two generations to be together in one place unwinding, laughing, and reminiscing. Each one of us felt transformed by the end of the week. The tension and exhaustion of everyday life had lifted and we discovered true relaxation. The most extraordinary staff cared for my family. It was such an intimate experience, as if we were aboard our fam- ily’s private yacht and there were simply a few other folks along for the journey. Elki fell in love with the event possibilities for chartering S EA D REAM for a wed- ding or birthday celebration and designing exclusive parties in different exotic ports. The mere mention of the word “S EA D REAM ” to any member of my family evokes an immediate smile, like a hypnotic trigger word. This fall we began planning a milestone birthday party for my dad. One look at the guest list and I could see this was going to be an expensive event. I suggested an alternative, forget the party, and let’s take the family on another S EA D REAM voyage.
